Building an analytical mindset in a positive collaborative environment

I am a career changer transitioning from 22 years in healthcare to cybersecurity. For the past 3 years cybersecurity has sparked my interest, so I decided to take the leap and enroll in UNC-Charlotte's cybersecurity bootcamp. It was the best decision and an experience that I will remember for a life-time.  I enjoyed the instructional staff and making new friends through the program. The instructional team and my peers were very supportive. I enjoyed working with other students to complet...

    UNCC Fintech Bootcamp, Would Recommend

The instructor, Johnny Wales, made this class very rewarding and enjoyable. His deep financial institutional knowledge, skill as a developer, and patience in class was the perfect combination for a professional and enjoyable environment. I was looking for a course to help me in my own position at a fintech startup, and I feel much more prepared to analyze data, evaluate technology vendors, and build my own solutions. This program was certainly challenging enough to make me feel like I wa...

    Cyber Security Boot Camp Review

The cybersecurity boot camp provides a fantastic opportunity for all students to accel in the cybersecurity field whether a senior professional or a novice much like I was. I was a former criminal investigator with law enforcement who had minimal knowledge of information technology when I walked into Aaron Trusky's class. I was in the midst of a daunting career change with no understanding of the expectations for success in the field. I found comfort in the class as Aaron taught with exp...

UNC Charlotte, in association with Trilogy education, offers an intense and comprehensive full stack web development program designed to jumpstart careers in software development.  I went from knowing little to nothing about programming to building thoroughly modern web applications in 12 weeks.

Have been waiting a while to post a full review of this program and attempt complete neutrality.

During this cohort a ta was replaced, the student success manager was replaced, one ta was seemingly absent half the cohort and grading took months.Yes, it was mentioned a couple times that this was the lowest performing cohort so far, but I don't think that falls solely on the students.

To those considering this bootcamp regardless of the reviews, I encourage you to take t...

Thank you for your feedback, CPT. From your review, we understand that your program experience did not live up to your expectations.

We have a multi-step admissions process to make sure that students are set up for success. During this time, our advisors evaluate individuals to ensure they are aware of the extensive time and hard work they will have to dedicate to their studies and are truly committed to their web development journey. We begin with an initial phone interview, followed by a timed, critical thinking and problem-solving assessment that applicants must pass with a score of 70 or above in order to move forward. Only once prospective learners have made it through these screenings are they accepted into the course. We're continually optimizing our program experience, so we appreciate your insight.

We're glad to hear you developed a foundational skill set and benefited from the course structure. Our curriculum starts slow, with the intensity and difficulty of the course material ramping up to advanced topics rather quickly. Topics are introduced at a high-level, after which individuals are expected to dive in and not only gain a deeper understanding of the concepts but also practice their skills outside of the classroom. Each lesson builds on the last and we find that as the course progresses, most participants feel increasingly confident in the knowledge they've gained. Our goal is for students to gain essential problem-solving and self-teaching skills—key qualities necessary in any developer's career.

Our course material is based on extensive market research, teaching in-demand skills that students can use to enter the current tech field, and we are proud of our ability to make frequent optimizations. Our curriculum overview does indicate the specifics tools and technologies covered throughout the boot camp so that students are aware of the scope, but we understand you would have liked to spend more time focusing on other technologies like Java or Angular. We appreciate your feedback as we are constantly working on improving our curriculum to ensure participants are learning the most valuable skills.

We are happy that you found your instructors to be helpful and knowledgeable. We understand the boot camp's pace can be strenuous and in order to assist individuals who are struggling with the coursework, our instructors and TAs do their best to be available for extra support through office hours before and after class in addition to our free tutoring network. Your cohort did undergo some unexpected staff changes and we know that adjusting to new team members can be difficult.

You are absolutely right that job seeking is difficult and takes hard work on the part of the student. Our professional development services are built on the principle of empowerment. The career services curriculum is focused on helping students become employer competitive and includes six pillars of support. While we do not secure direct employment for our students, we do provide more than 75 hours of occupational assistance, consisting of resume and portfolio reviews, virtual tech panels, technical interview training, 1:1 meetings with their Career Director, and more.  We recognize that networking is an important part of the job search, and as such, we foster a supportive network of boot camp alumni in the Charlotte area who are eager to connect with recent program graduates and host quarterly Demo Days with industry professionals and former participants. We're frequently refining our career services to ensure students have access to all our available offerings, so your feedback is valuable to us.

It is our goal for all individuals to leave the program feeling not only confident in the skills they have gained but also equipped for success as they step out into the industry. We would love the opportunity to speak with you further about how we can supplement your learning or career search at this time. If you would like, please reach out to us at (704) 601-6030.

    Coding - Full Stack Bootcamp

I took the 12-week Full-time Coding Bootcamp in the Summer of 2019 at a UNC-Charlotte Extension program supported by Trilogy Education Services.

The course is a solid program that provides a study in Full-Stack programming rooted in daily coding activities.

My biggest takeaway is that I now have an efficient workflow for coding...and this is huge...before the class I was pecking away at trying to "do something" with success limited to the wordpress environment. Now, I c...

My decision to pursue a computer programming career was driven by the desire to strengthen my thinking capacity in that programming teaches you to analyze a problem, break it down into small pieces and then tell the computer how it should solve the entire problem. You tell the computer how to solve the problem by giving it a set of instructions in a language that can be compiled or changed into machine code (binary digits) which is understood by the computer.

Data Analytics Bootcamp is great for right candidates

All 5s for right candidates and all 1s for me, apart from the mark for the instructors.

This is a great course for people new to programming, and/or uncomfortable to learn things themselves, and wishing to get into the Data Analytics and Visualization career.

I had an EXCELLENT time in this boot camp.  The curriculum, Instructor, and Teacher Assistants were top notch.  I would recommend this boot camp to anyone who wants to start a career in analytics/data science.  The relationships I made really gave me an insider view to the analytics and programming world in my area.  One possible improvement/recommendation from my perspective on the curriculum side of things would have been to definitely focus more on SQL(stored procedures and advanced que...

The UNCC Full Stack Development Boot Camp was an absolute life changer for me and I will forever be grateful. My instructors Darin and Kevin and my TAs are still some of the most knowledgeable developers that I know today even after working in the field for 7 months.
